Hudson Group is an international retailer and distributor primarily involved in the sport and fashion wear sectors. The Group’s head office is in Malta but is also present through offices in Italy, Cyprus, Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya and Algeria.
Though Hudson Holdings was founded in 2006, the Group’s roots reach as far back as 1987 when the first pair of NIKE was sold in Malta.
Role purpose
The Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting daily accounting operations, and partnering with internal teams to maintain strong financial governance. This role requires strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Post and process accurate journal entries in line with compliance standards.
- Maintain financial databases, ensuring integrity and accessibility of information.
- Review expenses, payroll records, and supporting documentation.
- Issue invoices and manage accounts receivable.
- Update accounts payable and perform regular reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing balance sheets, income statements, and statutory financial statements.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Prepare year-end financial statements in line with regulatory and company standards.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and financial planning.
- Analyse financial trends and present insights to management.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Assist with tax calculations and submissions.
- Act as a proactive finance partner to other departments.
- Participate in ad-hoc accounting and finance projects.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or in the final stages of ACCA.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within an international group.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrate strong written and spoken English communication skills.
