Description
Abertax Quality Ltd., a leading Maltese company specializing in battery technologies and innovation for over 25 years, is seeking a skilled toolmaker to join our dynamic team. You will work in our established, modern toolshop on exciting projects supporting the Injection Moulding, Production, and R&D departments. The selected candidate/s will have the opportunity to work on different tool-making processes including CNC machinery.
This role offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge battery solutions, collaborating with international partners in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual machinery (milling, turning, etc).
- Operate and program CNC machinery (milling, turning, grinding, EDMs) for precision tool fabrication.
- Design, modify, and maintain injection moulds, dies, and fixtures using CAD/CAM software.
- Perform tool assembly, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality production outputs.
- Support R&D prototyping by developing custom tools for new battery technologies.
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize tooling processes and reduce downtime.
- Adhere to strict quality standards, safety protocols, and ISO certifications, and internal procedures.
- Support our Injection Department on site at Kordin if the need arises.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a tool maker in injection moulding or similar manufacturing settings.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and manual machining.
- Strong knowledge of materials like steel, aluminium, and engineering plastics.
- Ability to read technical drawings and work to tight tolerances.
- Diploma or equivalent in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Be willing to learn new skills primarily related to the key responsibilities and other non-key responsibilities that may be needed from time to time.
