We're looking for an Associate Client Accountant to join Sheltons Malta. In this role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of international clients from an accounting perspective, ensuring that accounting, VAT, income tax compliance, and payroll-related deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and to the standard expected by our clients.
This is a full-time position based in Malta.

About the Role
As an Associate Client Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the delivery and coordination of accounting services for a portfolio of international clients. This includes maintaining accounting records, preparing management accounts and year-end files, fulfilling Maltese VAT, income tax, and payroll-related obligations, and anticipating client requests and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
· Take ownership of a portfolio of clients and ensure assigned deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
· Maintain accounting and bookkeeping records for international clients.
· Organise supporting documents and prepare accounting schedules, management accounts and year-end files.
· Ensure the timely preparation and filing of VAT, payroll, and tax statutory requirements.
· Anticipate, monitor, and meet client and regulatory deadlines.
· Liaise with clients to request information, clarify queries, and follow up on outstanding matters.
· Coordinate with the Head of Accounting or Accounting Manager, senior colleagues, tax advisors, and client relationship owners.
· Facilitate the exchange of information with auditors and other third-party suppliers.
· Support improvements in accounting processes, systems, and internal workflows.
What We're Looking For
· Minimum of one year of experience in a CSP or accounting firm, or in a similar accounting position.
· Experience working in a client-facing role within an international and professional setting.
· Mid-way through ACCA or an equivalent accounting qualification.
· Working knowledge of Maltese VAT and income tax compliance requirements.
· Good knowledge of accounting, finance, reconciliations, management accounts, and year-end preparation.
· Experience using accounting software, preferably Xero.
· Organised, accurate, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
· Able to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, and third-party suppliers.
· Demonstrates analytical thinking, practical problem-solving, and the ability to anticipate deadlines and issues.
· Experience working in an audit firm is considered an asset.
· Excellent written and spoken English.
